We've had the quiet magic of Christmas Eve and the excitement of Christmas Day. We've even had the slightly hungover elation of Boxing Day, and now there's still a fair few days to go until the New Year. But is anyone really sure how many days it is? What day it is? Is anyone even really sure of the date?
We've had the quiet magic of Christmas Eve and the excitement of Christmas Day. We've even had the slightly hungover elation of Boxing Day, and now there's still a fair few days to go until the New Year. But is anyone really sure how many days it is? What day it is? Is anyone even really sure of the date?
Probably not, and to be honest, at Mischief Managed, we love this time of the year, but it isn't for everyone. With a lack of structure to the days and clarity as to whether it is or isn't Christmas still, we're a bit marooned between years with the festivities over but too many mince pies left to start the new one.
For our pets, though, it can be a nice reprieve for them if they have been overwhelmed with visitors and a more full house than normal. There's lots of overstimulation at Christmas time - people are there who aren't normally, everyone is in higher spirits than they might normally be, and on Christmas Day itself, as well as the flashing lights and the tree inside, there's probably the noise of new toys and gadgets to contend with.
But during Betwixtmas, or Crimbo Limbo, or Twixmas, or whatever you call it, all is calm. Not quite back to the normal routine, but for most people, it's more chilled, it's quieter and if people haven't gone back to work yet, there's time to spend with your furry friend.
We find that blowing off the cobwebs with a bracing walk is wonderful at this time of year, and decided to tackle Mam Tor with beagles in tow. It was incredibly windy and foggy at the top, but the fact that you couldn't see any further than the end of your nose due to the thick fog made it really atmospheric and fun. Bertie & Wilbur had a great time and made the climb look really easy and had plenty of time for sniffing, exploring and rolling while we caught our breath!
Our adventure walks are perfect for this time of year, either as a recurring booking or as a one-off. If your dog likes a longer and more challenging walk, we offer these on a weekly basis, going to a variety of different locations within the Peak District and surrounding countryside, and usually we wouldn't take more than two dogs, so it's also great for those dogs who like a bit more one on one time.
